Health Rhythms is a fun, evidence -based whole person strategy that builds bridges while fostering nurturing, support, camaraderie, self- respect and respect for others. It is not really about drumming, but uses the drum as a tool for communication and personal expression.

In this 6-week course we will drum together and compose a joyous and enriching drumming experience to increase personal well-being and group outcomes. Research has proven that drumming promote personal expression, creativity, camaraderie and reduces stress and burnout. In each session we will use the drum not only as a tool to restore inner balance and a method of communication but also for group empowerment.

No previous experience in drumming is necessary. All instruments will be provided by the facilitator. As an Expressive Arts Therapist, Galit Shezifi, MSW, creates a working environment in which participants can express their innermost feelings and thoughts. The creation of this interpersonal space facilitates verbal and nonverbal expressions.

It is geared to help participants work on their personal growth. Her experience includes working with individuals of all ages, children with special needs, the LGBTQ community, major psychiatric disorders and bereavement. In addition, she facilitates HealthRHYTHMS drumming circles at mental health agencies, schools and private settings throughout San Diego. Galit, a graduate of San Diego State University has done a post graduate certification from The Expressive Arts Institute of San Diego.
