ACCREDITATION @ CAMPUS OF LIFE

ACCREDITATION:

As an IACET Accredited Provider, Campus of Life offers IACET CEUs for its learning events that comply with the ANSI / IACET Continuing Education and Training Standard.

How can you be sure that Campus of Life’s community learning program delivers solid learning outcomes and maintains excellent faculty?

How can an organization become a provider of Continuing Education Units (CEUs)? IACET*, the Council on the Continuing Education Unit (CCEU), and a U.S. Department of Education task force were created to address questions such as these. Campus of Life has maintained the standards and high quality of learning through IACET which helps continuing education providers to develop a framework for continuous improvement and a superior learning experiences. Here is some information that was taken from the IACET website to answer some of your questions.

GENERAL INFORMATION ON Continuing Education Unit (CEU): CEU is defined as a measurement of the non-credit continuing education activity. In general, 1 CEU = 10 contact hours of participation in an organized learning experience, delivered under responsible qualified instruction. CEUs can often be converted into other measurements, such as Professional Development Hours or Continuing Education Credits, depending on the organization and/or regulating body. A contact hour is a 50-60 minute instruction.

At the Campus of Life, “a full-time student” accumulates at least 8 credits a semester. Students are awarded credit for classes on the basis of Continuing Education Units. One CEU equals one credit comprising 10 contact hours. Campus of Life calculates a unit of credit as three hours of student work per week: For example one hour of instruction and two hours of self-review, homework, and practice/lab. Contact time can include self-paced learning events, assessments, outside assignments, lab and homework assignments, and field experiences. More information about CEU Criteria and requirements will be explained by the teacher. You can always contact the Educational Office if you have any further questions.

Why is it important to calculate CEUs?

The continuing education unit (CEU) was designed to:

  • Provide a standard unit of measurement for continuing education and training,

  • Quantify continuing education and training (CE/T) activities, and

  • Accommodate the diversity of providers, activities, and purposes in adult education.

Why is it important that Campus of Life is an accredited provider through IACET?

It is important for COL to be an accredited provider adhering to the IACET. It gives our adult education students confidence in our organizational education. As an IACET Accredited Provider, our learning program adheres to the ANSI/IACET Standard for Continuing Education and Training. Our learning policies and processes have met the elements of the ANSI/IACET Standard and the IACET CEU assures licensing bodies and others that a learner has completed a quality learning program that meets the national standard for continuing education and training.

*The International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) developed the original Continuing Education Unit (CEU) and today ensures that providers of continuing education and training can prove they provide high-quality instruction by following the ANSI/IACET 2018-1 Standard for Continuing Education and Training through a rigorous accreditation process. The ANSI/IACET Standard for Continuing Education and Training is a universal model for learning process excellence. It defines a proven model for developing effective and valuable continuing education and training (CE/T) programs by measuring a CE/T provider’s training program from procedure to process to result. Because the ANSI/IACET Standard focuses on how continuing education and training programs are developed, not what they cover, it provides a certifiable framework of researched and proven best practices that can be applied across disciplines and industries. The ANSI/IACET Standard measures all aspects of a CE/T provider’s program development across nine nationally recognized categories.  This has allowed for the ANSI/IACET Standard to be recognized as the official standard for CE/T in the world.  (Please note that the above information on IACET was taken from the IACET web site https://iacet.org/)

Please contact the Dean if you have any questions or concerns about the learning program and information (dean@campusoflife.com). We are here to assist!
