Instructor: Brian Remas
Session 5 Location: Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve
Difficulty: Moderate
Distance: About 6 miles
For this adventure, I'm taking you to one of San Diego County's hidden forests at Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve. You'll be able to enjoy beautiful meadows, oak shaded flats, and a stream surrounded by sycamores. If that isn't enough, the turnaround point is a set of small waterfalls. There are many species of birds (acorn woodpeckers, rare falcons, scrub jays, etc.), deer, and other animal life. This special preserve has over 100 different species of plants and trees which makes the environment change several times during our journey.
There is a small fee to park at the reserve ($3.00), but 100% of the money goes to the park.
Be sure to bring:
At least one liter of WATER
Food for snacks
Good hiking or athletic shoes
Sunblock
Directions: 12020 Black Mountain Road, San Diego, CA
