Join us for a 6-week course about aligning the body and mind by practicing gentle movement with stillness and longer holds. Students will use props to support the body in mat poses and take mindfulness to the next level. This course is for all body types and levels and uses yoga and breathing to heal, invite resilience, promote good sleep patterns, and reduce pain.

During this 7 week course, students will practice these self-care techniques to counteract life’s hyperactivity and stimulation. Through science and recent studies, students will learn that restorative slow yoga can reorganize the nervous system and prepare the body and mind for sleep.

This course will foster the “rest and digest” or parasympathetic nervous system response, which is helpful for reducing chronic pain and promoting healthy sleep. There will be a 10 minute guided meditation at the end of each class. Terri Rucker has been teaching yoga for youth and adults since 2004.

She has 12 years of teaching experience at Chula Vista Elementary School District teaching and Poway Unified School District. Along with her California K-12 Teaching Credential, she has certificates from Beth Shaw’s YogaFit-RYT 200, AFAA Practical Pilates, Silver Age Yoga Community Outreach (SAYCO), Mindfulness Meditation Teacher (MMT), and Shana Meyerson’s Mini Yogis teacher training for kids yoga.
