For most of us, treating others with compassion and kindness comes naturally. This is especially true when we see someone experiencing physical or emotional pain and our heart instinctively goes out to them. But what about when we are struggling? Are we as kind and compassionate to ourselves as we are to others? If you are like most people, the answer is no. When it comes to ourselves, harsh judgment and self-criticism are the norms. The gentleness we extend to others seems to elude our own self-narrative and care. Enter Self-Compassion.

With tools and practice around this concept, we can bring awareness to our habitual responses and begin to treat ourselves with the same kindness we extend to others. This interactive class on Self-Compassion will include a combination of teaching, experiential exercises, and group sharing.

The learning objectives include: -What it means to be Self-Compassionate -What Blocks Self Compassion -Tools to Cultivate Self Compassion.

About the Instructor: Shayna draws from her background and experience as a Clinical Psychologist and 14 years of dedicated Zen meditation practice to guide your learning. She will introduce you to the basic concepts of compassion and use guided exercises and meditation for experiential learning.  No meditation experience necessary.
