Course Description:  Explore our beautiful community by walking its paths. Dr. Sandra Eriks, a new member of Campus of Life (COL) will be leading it. Sandy is delighted to have the opportunity to lead members of the COL community on exploration walks around Scripps Ranch.

She would like to invite you to explore our nearby trails. As a retired physician, Dr. Sandra Ericks now has time to enjoy many other passions such as traveling and exploring the places she travels to on foot and by local means of transportation.

She walked the Camino de Santiago in its entirety in 2009, trekked in Nepal in 2012, tracked the wildebeest migration in the Serengeti in Tanzania in 2013, and slept in a tent with a Gentoo penguin colony in mainland Antarctica in 2015. Most recently, she spent a week in New York City where she enjoyed walking the length of Brooklyn Bridge and Highland Rail, in addition to touring Greenwich Village, Chinatown, SOHO, Little Italy, and Central Park on foot.  Our first walk will be 2.5 miles long.

This walk will be mostly on trails and on some local roads.  We will walk at a pace that will be comfortable for the slowest participant. Mid-walk we will take a short break at the Vons shopping center.  Please wear hiking boots or sturdy closed toe shoes as the trail has areas of loose stones.

Also, please wear sunscreen and a hat and carry with you 1 liter of water for every person in your group. Please note that the trails are not wheelchair or stroller accessible.
