In this course we will look into a number of famous movies to see how cinema affects us by eliciting strong emotions and feelings. This is done by combining and editing images, music, special effects, and sound into a story. In our class meetings, we will watch excerpts from movies and then reflect on their narratives from a psychological standpoint. We will learn how movies can help us better understand ourselves, the lives of those around us, our society, and our culture. Follow Dr. Oded Shezifi, clinical Psychologist and Instructor at the Chicago School for Professional Psychology, through the landscape of psychology, storytelling and how movie-makers rely on basic psychology to share their message.
